ANNUAL COCKTAIL FUNCTION
Report Back
The annual cocktail function was the Western Cape Branch’s last function of the year and provided a relaxed environment for all 80 attendees to reflect on the past year and network one last time before the well-earned builder’s holiday.
In his opening address, Heinrich Stander the Branch Chairman introduced and welcomed the National President of the Concrete Society, John Sheath who had travelled down from Johannesburg specifically for the occasion.
The guest speaker, David Grier, is an inspirational speaker, celebrity chef and extreme adventurer, having just completed the first ever joint continuous run of the Great Wall of China, some 4000km in 98 days.
L to R: Heinrich Stander, David Grier,

David entertained and enlightened the attendees about his inspirational journey along the Great Wall of China and the strenuous obstacles his team faced along the way. At the end of his presentation he shared the heart-warming outcome of this fundraising adventure-mission and the great work being done by the charity organization, Operation Smile.
Proceedings ended with a quick competition by David Grier and upon answering his question right the recipient won a free copy his book, Courage and Rice, a photographic journal of his adventure along the Great Wall of China.
