Inland Branch Day/Night Golf 2017

The Inland Branch held its first Day/Night golf event recently at the Ruimsig Golf Club near Roodepoort. More than 40 players teed off at this 18-hole championship golf course and social hub to the Roodepoort/Ruimsig area. The course was in superb condition and the weather, perfect for golf.
The day was designed to be a fun occasion, and to help it along, there special features and prizes available for the players to enjoy.

There were 13 teams representing various companies in the industry, competing for prizes on the day. There were very good golfers, some not so bad, and then some who were there purely for the fun!

The programme prepared consisted of 9 holes of normal golf in daylight; a break then for some food and the Branch’s Annual General meeting; followed by 4 holes of night golf. The promise of ‘glow-in-the-dark’ golf balls provided a surprise for many. Once hit the ball would light up in green or blue and glowed very brightly so that the players could easily follow the ball around the course. Mind you, there was not long to find the balls once struck, as they only remained lit up for approx. 8 minutes before they needed striking again to re-illuminate them.

Feedback after the event reported that everybody had a great time and good networking was the order of the day. The Inland Branch Committee, proved once again that they can present great networking opportunities to the industry, intermingled with a lot of fun.

Prize-giving was a jocular affair, with many players ‘ribbing’ others about their performance on the course. Branch Chairman, Johan van Wyk announced the prize winners, whilst Vice-Chair of the branch, Tina Coetzee, presented them to the winners. The final results were:
